- Te Tai o Poutini West Coast is seekinga dynamic and experienced Older Persons Health & Disability (OPH&D)Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership of services for olderpeople and people with disabilities across the region.This role plays a pivotal leadership position in shapinghigh-quality, person-centred care delivery that aligns with national healthstrategies and local community needs.
Based on the stunning West Coast, this isyour opportunity to make a tangible impact in a region known for its strongcommunity spirit, natural beauty, and connected approach to care.About the RoleAs the Older Persons Health & Disability Manager (OPHD), you will:Provide strategic oversight of Health NZ-delivered Older People and Disability Services on the West Coast.Lead and manage the Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) functions for people with disabilities, their families, and carers.Support the operational management of our Greymouth-based aged care facility, ensuring services meet Aged Residential Care (ARC) sector standards.Champion equitable access to personalised support plans and services that promote independence, participation, and improved quality of life.Lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering excellent care and outcomes for our older and disabled population.
About youEssential RequirementsProven experience in a leadership/management role within the older persons health and/or disability sector.In-depth knowledge of the Healthy Ageing Strategy and disability service delivery models.Demonstrated fiscal management experience and the ability to lead and implement change effectively.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with expertise in conflict resolution, negotiation, and team building.Excellent organisational, administrative, and time management skills.Technologically competent, with the ability to utilise and extend IT capabilities.Committed to cultural responsiveness and equity, with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to apply its principles in practice.A full, clean driver- s licence.Leadership CompetenciesEnhance people and team performance through coaching and development.Build trust, delegate effectively, and foster a positive and resilient team culture.Be self-aware, honest, courageous, and outcome-focused.Lead with empathy, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement in health equity and service delivery.Desirable Qualifications & ExperienceRegistered Health Professional with a current practicing certificate.Minimum of 5 years clinical experience, ideally in older persons or disability care.Experience in restorative models of care that support independence and well-being.Prior experience in clinical governance and leading interdisciplinary teams.Postgraduate qualification in management, leadership, or a related health discipline.Strong understanding of health and disability funding and service models.Working at HealthNew ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Orais dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
