[ref. k83611920] Waste Services Manager
A very important service for residents of the Kawerau District is collection of recycling, having a transfer station, and a clean and tidy district. We have a vacancy for a Waste Services Manager who will be responsible for ensuring those services are provided to the Kawerau District, whilst caring for our environment.
The position involves leading the operational teams, planning and coordinating solid waste collection (recycling), and processing and disposing of that waste. This involves “hands-on” management of the transfer station operations and services, and the recycling collection service; and overseeing the staff who provide those services.Support is also provided to the Water Services Team with sewerage waste processing and disposal activities. Some management of hazardous material is required; and there is also responsibility for consents, contracts, projects and budget management.
About You:You will ideally be able to offer:
- 5 year’s experience in a role with waste services or materials processing; and a Level 4 qualification in a related technical field
- 3 years’ experience in a role responsible for people management, projects, and contractor management
- A sound understanding of the RMA, and health and safety requirements in industry situations
- Staff management experience and well-developed interpersonal skills
- Critical decision making skills
- Effective report writing skills.
You must be eligible to work in NZ, and hold a current NZ Class 1 drivers licence (or equivalent). A Class 2 licence, with a Wheels, Tracks & Rollers endorsement is desirable.
