This is an exciting and unique role for New Zealand to work in the national centre for heart and lung transplantation. CVICU also provide regional care for pre and post-operative patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. This role also provides regular opportunity to work across The Department of Critical Care Medicine (CVICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) ward which are also covered by the Physiotherapy Critical Care Team.This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist wanting to advance their skills in:Implementing evidence-based practice and service developmentMotivating, guiding, and developing staffClinical leadership This role will also see you performing the below duties:Manage a complex clinical caseload, providing an evidenced based and comprehensive service to our Critical Care patients and outreach ward servicesWork collaboratively within the Critical Care team on a day-to-day basis, providing clinical and operational supportPlay an active role in quality improvement, staff, and service developmentWork collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary environmentSupport orientation and upskills of staff to Critical CareParticipate in our weekend and on-call rosterClick here to view the position description About the TeamOur Physiotherapy service is made up of passionate and supportive Physiotherapists motivated to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the communities we serve.The Critical care team is made up of 12 Physiotherapists who work primarily across our two main critical care units.
In CVICU you will be working alongside an Advanced Clinician Physiotherapist, a fellow Senior Physiotherapist and 2 core Physiotherapists.Our wider Physiotherapy team consists of 90FTE, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings.For more information on living and working in Auckland click hereAbout youAs the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes:New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing CertificateAt least 6 years clinical experience with 2-3 years working within critical care settingsExperience in tracheostomy weaning as part of a multidisciplinary teamA flexible and proactive approachExperience in supporting and teaching staff and studentsEffective communication and inter-personal skillsEffective time management, prioritisation, and organisation skillsUnderstanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to provide culturally safe care in the acute hospital environmentRegardless of your experience, you will receive a thorough orientation and be well supported in your role.
