FLAX & Co. is a beautiful venue in the heart of the Preston’s community in Christchurch, with idyllic views overlooking the water. We opened in November 2024 and have established ourselves as the ‘go to’ independent café by day and community restaurant, wine and cocktail bar by night.

We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager to work alongside and support the General Manager in leading a team of happy smiley people who love delivering the best hospitality and top-notch food and drink.

Flax (Harakeke) is a traditional Maori symbol of community and unity, and we very much want to embody that, enticing visitors from both near and far to join us for brunch, dinner and drinks.

We are delivering a daily Switch Coffee fix, alongside an all-day dining menu inspired by the seasons, all washed down with some of our favourite NZ wines and beers from craft brewers we love.

We know that to deliver our vision we need an enthusiastic and passionate Assistant Manager. Someone that genuinely loves people and is a consummate professional, who will be an exemplary hands-on leader for our team.

To be successful in this role you must -
  • Have a broad knowledge of food, coffee, wine and drink service with a genuine passion for delivering consistent and memorable dining experiences.
  • You must be flexible to work a mixture of days, nights and weekends and be available throughout the festive season.
  • Great communication skills, willing to work closely with The General Manager, The Owners and The Community
