We are looking for a Kaitakawaenga with a passion for working with Maori.

About the Role

Are you looking for your next career challenge? Do you want to be part of a dynamic, committed and supportive multidisciplinary team? Were looking for a highly motivated, independent practitioner with lots of energy - an outstanding communicator with the ability to build rapport with people quickly and is effective working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will be patient, family and whanau-centred in their approach. You will have experience working with Maori patients in a hospital setting as well as experience working with whanau Maori in the community. You will be skilled in therapeutic engagement and will undertake psychosocial assessment, risk assessment and safety planning.

You will have experience working with grief and loss, crisis intervention, safeguarding people across the lifespan and complex problem solving.

About the Team/Service/Location

This position will give you the opportunity to consult with multi-disciplinary teams on the social work role incorporating Maori models of care into patient care to enhance clinical outcomes for Maori patients and their whanau.

About you

It is essential that you have lived experience of te Ao Maori and have social work experience in the health sector of working with Maori clients and whanau

Current New Zealand Drivers License

Experience gained in an inpatient hospital setting and in the community is preferred

The successful applicant will have experience of working therapeutically with people experiencing ill health, grief and loss and managing complex social issues

A social work degree and registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board including a current Annual Practising Certificate is required

ANZASW Tangata Whenua Social Workers Association is preferred
