About the business

Boasting a well thought out menu, Boy & Bird is passionate about great food and creating a vibrant, high quality dining experience for all its guests. As a restaurant we use a range of local suppliers and focused on local, fresh, seasonal produce.

As a Cook you will be responsible for :

1. Preparing and cooking of food.
2. Checking and verifying the quality and quantity of supplies.
3. Freeze and preserve food.
4. Explaining to kitchen hand and looking after hygiene regulations.
5. Ensuring good hygiene and health & safety at all times.
6. Assisting other chefs in the kitchen.
7. Tidying up food preparation areas after they have been used.
8. Making sure that dishes are stored away properly.
9. Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately.
10. Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation.
11. Setting kitchen up for busy periods
12. Ensuring stock is rotated to minimise wastage and kept at correct temperatures
13. Washing, cutting, measuring and mixing foods for cooking
14. Operating cooking equipment such as grills, microwaves and deep-fat fryers
15. Maintain food preparation areas to keep the food safety standards.
16. Other duties that may be allocated as required.

1. Qualification in Cookery (NZ Register Level 4 qualification or it's equivalent overseas qualification) OR Two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
2. Ability to work in a Multicultural Environment.
3. Motivational and leadership skills.
4. Team player and ability to work competently under pressure.
5. Reliable and flexible to change.

Although experience is preferred, it is not essential.
