Mechanical Technicians

Dai’s Food Ltd, manufacturer of food products under the Auntie Dai’s label. We produce a variety of Chinese food products for New Zealand supermarket and restaurants, such as dumplings and steamed buns, etc.

This role requires a combination of mechanical expertise, welding skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with international machine providers.

The key tasks include:

• Install, maintain, and repair various machinery and equipment within the factory.
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to keep machinery operational.
• Conduct regular inspections and scheduled maintenance to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency and to prevent downtime.
• Use different types of repair or industrial equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide prompt solutions.
• Work closely with overseas machine providers, Mechanical Engineers and Technologists to resolve complex machine issues and to facilitate updates and enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols during all tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and replacements.
• Collaborate with other technical staff and management to improve production efficiency and safety.

The position is fulltime (eg: 30 hours plus) and permanent, and wage range is eg: $29.70 to $32.00 per hour.

To be considered for this position you will need to meet the below requirements:

• Have at least 2 years relevant work experience.
• Strong skills in mechanical repair, welding, and general fabrication.
• Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems.
• Ability to understand and interpret mechanical diagrams and technical manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Be able to work flexible hours, including early morning, evenings, and weekends, as required.
• Physically fit with the ability to perform heavy lifting tasks.
• Be able to provide written reference from your previous employers.
