As an STMS-Advanced, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of temporary traffic management across all road environments, including high-speed, high-risk Category C roads such as motorways and multilane networks.
Building on the responsibilities of the standard STMS role, the Advanced STMS is authorised and experienced in managing the most complex and high-risk traffic management scenarios. You will -- Lead all aspects of on-site traffic management including confirming TMPs, conducting crew briefings, implementing contingency plans, and completing compliance documentation with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and coordination across complex road environments.
- Coordinate and direct multiple crews whilst liaising with clients, contractors, and road controlling authorities.
- Complete, manage and maintain all required documentations and ensuring full compliance is met
- Proactively manage site safety and lead comprehensive risk management across all road categories to ensure safety for all road users and workers.
- Supervise and mentor traffic crews, including TMOs, TTM Workers and other STMS team members.
- Ensure all HSE procedures are followed and promote safe use of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
**Nga pukenga matua | Important Skills**
As an STMS-Advanced, you will hold a clean STMS Level 2/3 Practising Qualification alongside -- Full Clas 1 and 2 Drivers License
- First Aid Certification would be highly desirable
- TTM Unit Standards 31958 - 31963
- 3+ years of experience in temporary traffic management and managing Category A,B and C traffic management sites
- In-depth understanding of CoPTTM/NZGTTM and Local Operating Procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership strength with the ability to guide, coach, and empower others
- Be able to articulate and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Zero Harm practices
- Competency in using digital tools and systems for real-time reporting, job tracking, and crew communication.
