Monday to Friday 9am – 1:30pm during school term time only

We’re on the lookout for someone special to take the reins of our café at Craighead Diocesan School in Timaru.

This is more than just a cooking role – we’re looking for someone with a passion for great food and excellent customer service, who wants to make the café their own. You’ll have the freedom to bring creativity and energy into the space, providing wholesome, tasty options for our students and staff.

About the Role:
  • Prepare and cook a range of café-style food, including baking and hot meals
  • Serve customers during morning interval and lunchtime
  • Operate the POS system and EFTPOS, and manage end-of-day cashing up
  • Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment
About You:
  • Previous experience in a café, canteen, or commercial kitchen is essential
  • You might not be a qualified chef, but you know your way around food prep and baking
  • You’re customer-focused, friendly, and professional
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage time effectively in a busy environment

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a role they can really take ownership of and make their own, within a supportive school environment.

You will enjoy a modern upgraded kitchen environment, support to be creative with menu ideas and options, and school holidays off. Additional hours may be available by mutual agreement to cover gaps in the roster and provide support for functions.
