Support Worker - Part time

The Role
You’ll be part of a supportive team providing 24/7 residential care across a variety of services based in and around Palmerston North. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference—helping people develop independence, grow essential life skills, and live meaningful lives in a way that reflects their choices.
Your work will include supporting a female alongside another support worker, in personal care and daily routines, encouraging skill-building, and promoting independence in safe, structured, and person-led environments. Support with community participation is also important here and a love for some art and craft activities.These roles require flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and evenings.
Currently we require the following shifts. There may come more hours available for you to take up if you wish.
Week1:Monday: 8am to 4pm
Tuesday: 4pm - 10pm
Thursday: 3pm to 11pm
Week2: off
About You
To thrive in this role, you will bring a caring nature and ideally some experience in providing personal care.
Kindness, patience, and the ability to engage positively with others will be essential, as will good time management and calm, creative problem-solving.
Experience supporting people with disabilities, particularly those with complex needs, autism, or challenging behaviours, will be an advantage. An understanding of structured environments and sensory needs will further enable you to create safe, empowering spaces.
You’ll need to be comfortable following established routines while staying adaptable to changing needs.
Resilience, humour, and a genuine passion for helping others achieve their goals are key.
Essential criteria for this role:- Experience working with individuals with personal care needs
- Full NZ Driver's Licence
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
- Willingness to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, Level 3 or above
