Te Haeata/The OpportunityWe are looking for an enthusiastic team player who wants to gain public service experience in a commission of inquiry environment. As a Researcher Analyst in the Inquiry Facilitation team you will work with Waitangi Tribunal panels, claimants and counsel, and with colleagues across the Waitangi Tribunal Unit to deliver high-quality inquiry and hearing facilitation services.The Waitangi Tribunal Unit provides a comprehensive range of services to the Waitangi Tribunal, a permanent commission of inquiry that inquires into and reports on claims submitted by Māori under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.The Researcher Analyst in the Inquiry Facilitation team plays a vital role in the day-to-day activity running Tribunal inquiry processes.

You will work closely with Senior Facilitators and inquiry panels.We're looking for someone who is highly collaborative, analytical and thrives in a fast paced work environment with multiple workstreams. You will be able to quickly build and maintain strong working relationships with members of the judiciary (presiding officers), Tribunal members and colleagues across the Waitangi Tribunal Unit.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will have:hold a tertiary qualification in public policy, Māori studies, law, New Zealand history, or another relevant disciplinestrong verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer serviceshow a clear understanding of and commitment to the work of the Waitangi Tribunal, with a genuine interest in engaging with te ao Māoriknowledge of te reo Māori, tikanga, and mātauranga Māori would be beneficialexperience working in the public service or in related organisations would be beneficial.

Utu ā-tau/SalaryThe appointing salary for this role will be between $66,066 and $90,008 based on skills and experience.
