About the Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist you will provide leadership and clinical excellence working as part of a close knit Inter-disciplinary team. You will have a diverse and rewarding caseload, working with patients with a range of conditions including Stroke (Acute and Rehab), Orthopaedic, general medical and neurological conditions, utilising your advanced skills to make a meaningful difference.
About the Team/Service/ Location
This Senior Occupational Therapy role is based on Muriwai ward at Waitakere Hospital located in West Auckland. It comprises of a 13 bed Integrated stroke unit and a 28 bed Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation ward for older adults.
Our West Inpatient Allied Health team consists of over 37 Allied Health staff from Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Speech Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, and our Allied Health Assistants. You also have the opportunity to work alongside our Occupational Therapy Advanced Clinicians (Rehabilitation and Wheelchair and Seating) and Occupational Therapy clinical coach.
We work closely to provide a high quality service to our patients and whanau. We are a very supportive team; we provide training and learning opportunities, supervision, mentorship, and a fun and welcoming space to work in.
About you
You must be a New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist.
Our ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in Physical Rehabilitation or Acute Stroke delivering high quality evidence based care.Proven leadership skills and a passion for quality and service improvement
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working in an Inter-disciplinary team
A good understanding of the health needs of our Maori and Pacific community and a passion for reducing health inequities.
WMPL1 accreditation, or clinical experience in Wheelchair and Seating
Current full drivers licence
