About the role
Matamata-Piako District Council is looking for highly motivated refuse transfer station operators to join us in working towards our waste management and minimisation goals.
There are the following roles available;- Permanent three days a week
- Casual positions
The positions include working weekends and public holidays and are based at one or more of our three refuse transfer stations in Matamata, Morrinsville and Te Aroha.
You will be responsible for greeting customers, assisting and directing transfer station users, ensuring that refuse and/or recycling is disposed of in the appropriate areas and managing traffic flow. You will also undertake general yard duties which includes cleaning, litter control, management of the recycling and green wastes areas, processing of materials where required and operating machinery.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Have strong customer service skills with the ability to interact well with our customers
- Work well as part of a team
- Enjoy working outdoors on a variety of tasks
- Have a strong focus on health and safety
- Experience operating machinery i.e. Telehandler
- Wheels (W) endorsement preferred but not essential as training can be provided
