Ngā kawenga | About the roleKaainga Taupua is a community residence facility located at Spring Hill Corrections Facility in Te Kauwhata. Housing up to 15 residents, this critical facility contributes directly to improved public safety, reduced reoffending and an opportunity to support the reintegration for the highest risk and most complex people subject to community based sentences and orders in the country.

The facility is designed to assist individuals to develop important life skills within a supportive and supervised environment in order to successfully reintegrate into the community.The Assistant Residential Supervisors, at Kaainga Taupua are responsible for supporting the day

-to-day reintegrative needs of residents with high and complex needs.

Reporting to the Residential Services Manager, you will support the culture and development of the site while mentoring, supervising and positively influencing the reintegrative journey for those residing at the site.We operative a cyclic shift roster which includes nightshifts, weekends and public holidays.

A typical shift is 12 hours and will see you:-Working cooperatively with residents to help them achieve their reintegrative goals.Supporting residents both within the residence and on community outings to promote public safety through the safe management and supervision of each individual resident.Supporting and participating in residents' rehabilitative and reintegrative activities.Modelling pro-social behaviour.Based at Spring Hill Corrections FacilityHe kōrero mōu | About you Key to the success of this role will be your ability to supervise, motivate and influence residents while working as a part of a team.

In addition, your ability to maintain clear and professional boundaries at all times, provide practical solutions to day-to-day issues, identify risk and effectively communicate with people at all levels is essential to the success of this role.If you pride yourself on your ability to provide a high standard of care, have proven experience working with individuals with challenging and complex needs and want to make a difference to community safety in a new way then we want to hear from you!

These roles represent an excellent opportunity to join the team at Ara Poutama Aotearoa.As we are a 24/7 service, you must be able and willing to work shifts including weekends and public holidays.

You will work an average of 80 hours per fortnight, including 10 and 12-hour shifts.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experienceWe're looking for someone who can demonstrate:-A full New Zealand Drivers Licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.All round MS Office knowledge and general computer skillsExperience working in a residential care facility or working with people with complex needsProactive contribution to Corrections initiativesDoing the right thing in the face of pressure to do otherwiseAn ability to maintain clear and professional boundaries at all timesComposure and ability to de-escalate in demanding situationsAdoption of Ara Poutama Aotearoa set of values and alignment to our Hōkai Rangi strategy.Utu ā-tau | SalaryThe salary range is $64,138 to $71,444.
