This position is open exclusively to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora staff only. About the RoleWe are seeking two exceptional senior nurses to lead a focused programme of education, clinical support, and proactive patient review across adult inpatient areas across the District.

You will be working in collaboration with nursing teams and nurse leaders as part of a practice development methodology. This sixmonth fixedterm role offers a rare opportunity to shape practice, uplift capability, and directly contribute to improved patient outcomes.As a CNS Care of the Vulnerable Patient requiring enhanced therapeutic observations, you will provide expert assessment, realtime coaching, and oversight to ensure care partner use is clinically justified, consistently reassessed, and aligned with best practice and the updated guideline that supports care for vulnerable patients requiring enhanced care.

Your leadership will help embed prevention focused interventions, elevate the use of Essential Care Bundles, and support teams in delivering safe, dignified, personcentred care. What You Will DoDeliver advanced clinical assessment and daily review of patients receiving onetoone or cohorted care partner support.Provide realtime clinical guidance to ward teams, supporting escalation, stepdown, and cessation of care partner requirements.Work with others around targeted education programmes, including delirium and dementia care, risk mitigation, and nursing process application.Support consistent use of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation within care plans.Drive quality improvement and contribute to ongoing monitoring through TrendCare, audits, and governance reporting.Collaborate with Nurse Directors, Nurse Managers, Charge Nurse Managers, Nurse Educators and multidisciplinary teams to strengthen practice across the system.

You bring:Essential:Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate.Significant experience in a New Zealand acute hospital setting (minimum five years).Expertlevel practice on PDRP (or working towards Senior Nurses PDRP).Post graduate qualificationExperience in interpretation and analysis of data to inform clinical practice development and improvementRelevant experience such as research, teaching, innovation, and implementation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.Proven ability to lead change, support staff learning, and enhance patient safety and care quality.
