About the role
We are seeking a committed and experienced Factory Team Leader to join our day shift operations on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working in a mussel factory based in Havelock. You'll be responsible for accurate data entry (PayGlobal, WorkMate), training staff, and stepping in for the Supervisor as needed.Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Day Shift)Working Hours: 45 hours per week guaranteed working, Monday - Saturday
Pay Rate: $29 - $32 per hour (depending on experience)
Location: Must be based in Marlborough region and have reliable transportation.
You will:
- Supervise day shift operations and ensure adequate staffing.
- Input accurate data into PayGlobal and WorkMate systems.
- Lead toolbox meetings, STS training, and emergency drills.
- Coach and train new staff per induction guidelines.
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and escalate issues.
- Minimize waste and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Act as stand-in for Supervisor when required.
- When not standing in for the Supervisor, work as part of the mussel processing team, supporting production as needed.
What we're looking for:
- At least 2 years of experience working in a mussel factory or similar seafood processing environment.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., data entry, using touch screen systems).
- Must be based in Marlborough region and have reliable transportation as the factory is in havelock, which is 40km out of Blenheim.
