Assistant Cook - Busy Tourist Cafe Te Anau

This is a hands-on role where you’ll help prepare delicious cabinet food, support the team with our popular breakfast and lunch menu, and contribute to creating a warm, welcoming experience for our locals and the many visitors who pass through our doors.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Preparing fresh, appealing cabinet food daily (baking, sandwiches, savouries, salads, etc.)
• Assisting with breakfast and lunch service, including food prep, cooking, plating, and maintaining quality standards
• Keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and operating smoothly throughout busy periods
• Working closely with our Head Cook and café team to deliver consistent, high-quality food
• Helping with stock rotation, basic ordering, and maintaining food safety standards

What We’re Looking For:

• At least 1 year's café or kitchen experience is required, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important
• A passion for cooking and producing food you’re proud to serve
• Ability to work well as part of a supportive, close-knit team
• Someone who thrives in a busy, upbeat environment and enjoys the buzz of a popular tourist café
• Reliability, good communication skills, and an eye for presentation

The role will pay between $28 and $32 per hour depending on skills and experience.
