Emirates Team New Zealand is looking for a Junior Electrical/Communications Technician to help ensure our sailors stay connected. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and performance, supporting the sailing team, Electronics and IT departments to maintain reliable, race-ready communication hardware.
From assembling and servicing headsets to troubleshooting audio wiring and RF systems, the successful candidate will play a key role in keeping our gear functioning at its best. You’ll also assist the electronics department with broader onboard systems, gaining exposure to a range of marine electrical work.

Whether soldering in the workshop or fault-finding on the dock, you’ll need to work independently and as part of a tight-knit team, solving problems calmly and efficiently in high-pressure environments
Responsibilities- Working with the sailing team and IT department to ensure comms hardware is working at its best
- Maintaining sailor headsets
- Assembling new comms hardware
- Assisting the electronics department where required
- Experience in the electrical engineering field
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Understanding of audio wiring
- Manual dexterity, including soldering and tools
- Fault finding on electrical/electronic wiring systems, basic IT networks, and cable systems
- Basic knowledge of RF communication systems
- Troubleshooting and debugging ability
- Work as part of a sports team competing for the oldest sporting trophy still being contested!
