Retail & Sales Manager
TwinNeedle is a Christchurch-based specialist manufacturer and retailer of load-carriage equipment, hunting gear and tactical products. Alongside a strong and growing retail base, we support commercial relationships such as Defence, Police, FENZ, LandSar and Corrections.
TwinNeedle also operates as a specialist technical repairer supporting individual customers and commercial partners, including work on premium brands and equipment such as GORE-TEX®, Patagonia, RAB, Arc’teryx, Nemo and other technical apparel and load-carriage systems.
As demand across both retail and commercial channels increases, we are evolving our retail leadership to support continued growth.
The role
This is a hands-on leadership role created to support growth across all retail channels, repairs, and commercial manufacturing.
You will:- Lead the Christchurch retail store, team and our online channel
- Drive retail sales, particularly within the hunting and tactical markets
- Provide strong follow-up and coordination for commercial enquiries
This is not a corporate sales role and not a pure store-manager role — it is a practical, relationship-driven position within a growing New Zealand manufacturing business.
Key responsibilitiesRetail leadership & operations
- Lead day-to-day retail store operations
- Supervise, train and support retail staff
- Maintain strong customer experience, particularly for hunting, tactical and outdoor customers
- Drive retail sales performance and in-store standards
- Manage inventory flow, merchandising and POS discipline including ordering supplies from external brands
- Manage and follow up inbound retail and commercial enquiries
- Support quotations, order coordination and customer follow-up
- Convert commercial repair relationships into repeat repair service sales
- Maintain a simple sales and opportunity tracking process
- Laise with external marketing and photography support, plan product releases, assist with social media and ensure the website is updated
- Lead the retail presentation at retail trade shows
- Progressively act as a key contact for Defence, Police, FENZ and other commercial customers
- Support meetings, site visits and customer engagement as required
- Represent the TwinNeedle brand professionally and credibly across all interactions
About you
You are likely to bring:- Retail leadership experience, ideally in hunting, outdoor, tactical or technical retail
- Strong sales follow-up and relationship-management capability
- Confidence dealing with commercial, professional or institutional customers
- A practical, organised and accountable working style
Experience with hunting products, Defence, Police, emergency services, or commercial equipment environments is highly regarded.
