Cafe Chef/Cook/Baker

Paris for the Weekend is a busy cafe on the banks of the Kaiapoi River. The business has been established for 9 years and is looking for a full time, experienced chef/cook/baker to join the team four days a week working approximately 40 hours each week.

Days are flexible but likely to be Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday. The cafe offers menu food, cabinet food and high teas and you would be responsible for producing these.

Key Responsibilities include:-

Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and café standards
Ensure food is prepared efficiently during busy service periods
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations
Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation
Assist with menu development and daily specials when required
Manage stock levels, rotate ingredients, and minimize food waste
Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service

Skills and Qualifications:-

Knowledge of food preparation, baking techniques, and kitchen equipment
Proven experience as a café chef, cook, or baker
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong time management and organizational skills
Attention to detail and consistency
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
