The role will be based in the West Coast Fire District.
Mō tēnei tūranga- About the role: This position reports to the Manager Region Training Te Ihu as part of a region-based, but nationally reporting, Region Learning Delivery team.
You will provide training support for Chief Fire Officers; Controllers, and Station Training Co-ordinators; and work closely alongside Volunteer Support Officers and District Management Teams.
You may also be involved in some training delivery nationally at Woolston, NTC Rotorua, and other training centres throughout New Zealand.As a region trainer, you will have a direct and almost immediate impact on the effectiveness of the organisation and its ability in leading integrated emergency services across New Zealand.
Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga- What you'll bring to the role:You will be expected to take a flexible approach to working hours to best meet volunteer training needs, as these roles require weekend and evening work and the ability to travel within the region or nationally as required.
It would be highly desirable if you are a current Fire & Emergency New Zealand Certified Trainer, have a current training scope, and hold Unit standards 4098 and 11551.Experience in Moderation and Assessment would be desirable, but for the right candidate, we would be prepared to offer training to obtain these Unit Standards.
A qualification in Adult Education would also be looked upon favourably as would being an experienced Rural/Natural environment trainer.To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will: Operationally skilled and current with a Fire Emergency NZ background Very skilled in establishing effective working relationships with District Management Teams, Chief Fire Officers, Controllers and Station Training CoordinatorsExperienced within the volunteer and/or career sectors.Able to deliver both high-quality structured training and work effectively alongside trainees.Sound planning, time management, and communications skills.Skilled in relationship-building skills, and the ability to influence, and assist learners.
