About the Role

We are seeking an Associate Clinical Nurse Manager's for our 10 bed In-patient unit at Tauranga Hospital. We are a busy unit providing acute assessment and treatment for clients presenting with acute mental health conditions, dementia with behavioural and psychological conditions and palliative dementia care.

In this designated senior nurse position you will work with the Clinical Nurse Manager to provide clinical coordination and leadership to ensure a safe, effective practice that supports the management of patient flow through the Mental Health services of Older People Inpatient Unit.

You will work in close collaboration with medical, nursing and allied staff to ensure timely and appropriate services to patients and provide leadership in complex patient situations.

We are seeking someone who wants to share their knowledge to lead and encourages ongoing staff competency through the Professional Development and Recognition Programme. You will act as an effective role model by demonstrating a high level of clinical competence, you will also assist in the recruitment, development and retention of staff on this ward.

This is a 0.9FTE position, working 72 hours per fortnight on a fixed term until August 2026

About You

The preferred candidate will be passionate and committed to providing patient focused care. The ability to work as an effective team member and demonstrate strong communication is essential to this position. You will need to have a calm and empathic approach, flexibility and creativity in your care approach.

You will have significant clinical experience in mental health and gerontological nursing as well as previous experience in staff management. We are seeking someone who can build rapport and actively listen to patients and whanau to show understanding and make a difference for our patients.

You need to have mental health in your scope of practice.
