Kintyre Meats Limited (KML) is part of the Cabernet Foods Group and is a meat processor of lamb, pigs, goats, beef and associated by-products. We are located in Gladstone, Wairarapa, 15 minutes drive from Masterton.
Job Description
KML is seeking an experienced and motivated maintenance technician to join our team in Gladstone. This position will help ensure that plant assets are managed and maintained in a way that minimizes processing downtime and enhances the company’s processing activities across all departments.This role is an integral part of our operation, and we require someone with a positive, can-do attitude and someone who works extremely well within a small team.
Key Responsibilities- Support the daily execution of preventative maintenance, and reactive/remedial maintenance. Undertaking in-house and site repairs and maintenance
- Equipment servicing and assembly
- Support ensuring site assets and equipment operate in compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies and site objectives.
You will need to be able to demonstrate the following key requirements for the role:
- Have good knowledge and skill base to repair and maintain various items of plant and equipment.
- Be a real team player with excellent communication skills
- A proactive attitude to make sure that production departments experience minimal down time due to engineering/maintenance requirements
- Strong organisational skills which complement the need to manage a variety of priorities and demands.
- Strong problem-solving skills,
- Appropriate qualifications and/or maintenance experience.
- A Trade certificate in engineering/maintenance or at least two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
- Competent welder
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics desirable.
- Knowledge of refrigeration, pumps and electrical motors desirable
- Previous experience working with plant and equipment desirable
- Previous maintenance experience in a food processing environment would be an advantage.
- A proactive approach to daily routine with strong organisational skills,
- A strong commitment to upholding health and safety standards,
- Electrical qualifications would be an added bonus
- Monday to Friday, with some Saturday work as and when required.
- Hours will be discussed with successful applicant, but expectation is being on site, or at times on call during production hours, under a roster arrangement with the other maintenance staff member.
- Hours are between 8.00am – 5.00pm (Negotiable)
- Hourly rate is set at between $30 - $40 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
- A Full Driver’s License.
- Ability to work extended hours when required
- NZ residency or a valid work visa
- Tools of the trade (desirable)
- Highly reliable
