About the Role

Nelson Hospital is seeking a highly organised and detailed - orientated individual to join our administrative support team as a Coordinator. This position is part of a team of 3 responsible for booking patient and staff travel along with booking accommodation and conferences.

This is an integral role within the organisation providing a service to the entire Nelson Marlborough district.

As a Staff and Patient Travel Coordinator, your duties will include:

  • Coordinating staff travel arrangements, including transportation, accommodation and itineraries,
  • Organizing accommodation and travel for patients when required ,
  • Planning and booking conferences and professional development events for staff.

The working hours are between 8.00AM and 4.30PM, Monday to Friday.

It is a permanent full-time role working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE).

Our Clinical Support Services play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our healthcare facilities. By providing essential administrative and secretarial assistance, we enable clinical teams to focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

About you

As a Staff and Patient Travel Coordinator, you will have:

  • Proven experience in administrative or secretarial roles, preferably in a healthcare setting,
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a busy environment ,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with healthcare management systems,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills ,
  • A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information ,
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment ,
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage but not essential ,
  • Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

Our preferred applicants will be required to undertake a computer skills assessment.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
