Senior Dental Assistants

As an experienced Dental Assistant at Capital Dental Limited, you will be pivotal in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment, focusing on patient care and satisfaction.

Core functions would be:
  • Assist the dentists during dental procedures, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort.
  • Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays as required.
  • Greet and prepare patients, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
  • Provide chair-side assistance to dentists, handing them instruments and materials.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update patient information as necessary.
  • Ensure a clean and organised working environment, following infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to deliver outstanding patient care and support.
Administrative responsibilities will include:
  1. Appointment Scheduling and Management:
  • Schedule patient appointments and send reminders.
  • Manage appointment cancellations and rescheduling.
  • Coordinate appointment times with dental hygienists, dentists, and other staff.
  1. Patient Records Management:
  • Update and maintain patient records with accuracy.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information.
  • Input treatment records and notes into patient files.
  1. Front Desk Operations:
  • Greet patients upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage office correspondence.
  • Provide patients with forms and documentation for their visit.
  1. Billing and Insurance Processing:
  • Prepare and process billing statements for dental services.
  • Submit insurance claims and follow up on reimbursements.
  • Assist patients with understanding their billing and insurance benefits.
  1. Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and order dental supplies and materials as needed.
  • Keep an inventory log and ensure stock levels are maintained.
  • Work with vendors to ensure timely delivery of supplies.
  1. Compliance and Regulation:
  • Ensure the office is compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dental practices and procedures.
  • Assist with the implementation of office policies and procedures.
  1. Office Maintenance:
  • Coordinate maintenance of office equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure the reception and waiting areas are clean and welcoming.
  • Arrange for repairs and servicing as required.
  1. Patient Communication and Education:
  • Provide patients with information regarding dental procedures and oral hygiene.
  • Assist in communicating treatment plans and options to patients.
  • Follow up with patients after procedures to check on their recovery and satisfaction.
  1. Reporting and Documentation:
  • Assist with financial reporting and budgeting for the dental office.
  • Prepare reports on office productivity, patient satisfaction, and other metrics.
  • Document office procedures and assist with policy updates.
  1. Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the dental team to streamline office operations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the improvement of office procedures.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new staff members.
About you
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in dental assisting, or a relevant qualification, minimum equivalent to a NZQF level 3 qualification or higher
  • A friendly and kind personality
  • Professional tidy appearance
  • Excellent command of English language both verbally and written
  • Good Computer skills
  • A warm telephone manner
What we offer
  • A full-time permanent role - minimum of 40 hours per week
  • An hourly rate based on skill and experience between $30 - $35 per hour
  • A rewarding and enjoyable work environment as part of our friendly team.

Our practice is open Monday – Friday from 8.30am – 5pm.
