About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant in our Maternity Ward, youll play an essential role in supporting midwives, nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate, and highquality care for wahine, pepi, and whanau. Your day will be varied from assisting with patient care and comfort, to supporting clinical tasks (once trained), to helping keep the ward running smoothly with clerical and technical duties.

At the heart of this role is care: respecting patient dignity, ensuring comfort, and contributing to an environment where whanau feel supported and safe.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Youll be part of the Maternity team at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital a collaborative, whanaucentred group of midwives, nurses, kaiawhina, and allied health staff who work together to provide exceptional care for mothers and babies.

The ward is a supportive environment where teamwork, professionalism and kindness guide the mahi every day.

About you

Youll be someone who is caring, reliable, and committed to supporting both patients and colleagues. You will also bring:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Health Wellbeing (Level 3) - Health Assistance
  • OR current enrolment in this qualification
  • OR commitment to begin this qualification within six months of starting.
  • A willingness to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and support equitable outcomes for Maori.
  • The ability to work well within a team and build positive relationships across services.
  • Stamina, resilience, and a focus on delivering safe, highquality care.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and selfawareness in all aspects of your practice.
