We serve the four Northern District Health Boards including all courts in the northern region and five prisons. We deliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, culture specific programmes for Maori, court liaison and prison mental health services.
This includes a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland.About the RoleOur team is diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-disciplinary and dedicated to providing modern, evidence based expert forensic care to our population.

As part of the team, youll be assigned to one of the inpatient wards working closely with service users at various stages of recovery, providing assistance and following direction from registered nurses, helping to implement nursing interventions, help to maintain a safe environment and assisting with recreational and vocational activities in order to get the best outcome for the service user.About YouWe are looking for Mental Health Care Assistants to work with service users experiencing complex mental health problems.

You will be assisting with both non-direct and direct and service user care activities under the direction and delegation of a registered nurse. You should feel comfortable working with people who may need support and understanding, particularly during times when they may be presenting with challenging behaviours.

Therefore, having good verbal communication skills, being calm under pressure and demonstrating resilience is essential.
