About the Role

If you are a dynamic Mental Health Clinician who is enthusiastic about making a meaningful difference in the lives of people across the Waikato region, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are looking for an experienced Community Mental Health clinician to join our Triage team based at Te Kuuwaha o te Waiora - 135C Silverdale Road (Gate 10), Hamilton. The Triage Team plays a vital, front facing role in the Community Mental Health and Addictions Service, receiving the majority of referrals into the service and ensuring that they are referred on to the appropriate service.

As part of the Triage Team, you will:

  • Provide timely mental health assessments and risk assessments
  • Coordinate access to the appropriate services and supports
  • Deliver brief interventions and crisis support
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Engage with tangata whaiora and whanau in a culturally responsive manner

This position will be 64 rostered hours per fortnight, between the hours of 0800-1630 Mon-Friday. The exact configuration of days and hours is negotiable.

About you
  • You are a confident and clinically astute Mental Health Clinician with experience in assessment and prioritisation of care. You thrive under pressure and are skilled at making clinical decisions.
  • You hold a current NZ APC and post graduate certificate in Mental Health.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with tangata whaiora and whanau.
  • A commitment to culturally safe practice and Te Tiriti of Waitangi Principles.
  • Strong documentation and time management skills.
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary team work.
