Right now, we’re looking for a sharp, community-minded Parking Officer to join our dynamic Regulatory team - and step into an important afterhours on-call responder role as required.

About this role| Kō tēnei tūranga mahi

As a Parking Officer, you’ll be out and about in the Nelson region helping to keep traffic flowing, streets safe, and parking fair. You’ll educate drivers, encourage compliance, and act as a friendly face for the city - offering guidance and support to locals and visitors alike.

Outside regular hours, you’ll be part of our Regulatory Afterhours Responder roster - tackling issues like bylaw monitoring, dog control and pollution response with professionalism and care.

You thrive in the community, work independently with confidence, and have the initiative to think on your feet. Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Top-notch customer service skills – you're calm, clear, and respectful
  • Eagerness to learn and grow on the job
  • Some knowledge of regulatory rules and bylaws (bonus – but we’ll train you!)
  • A full NZ driver’s licence - ability to drive a manual car would be a significant advantage
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
  • Great time management and self-discipline
  • Conflict resolution smarts – you keep things cool under pressure
  • Solid computer literacy and ability to use handheld smart devices
  • Good physical fitness – you’ll be clocking up an average of 10,000 steps everyday!
