Registered Nurse - Post Anaesthesia Care Unit
Contract: Permanent Full-Time, Rostered and Rotating

About the Role- To provide general anaesthetic, local anaesthetic, and monitored sedation recovery to patients (adults and paediatric), and discharge to Second Stage Recovery day ward, or one of the main wards
- To preceptor and mentor students where appropriate
- The PACU RN will work closely within a large multi-disciplinary team, forming working relationships with: operating theatre RNs and support staff, anaesthesiologists, anaesthetic technicians, surgical registrars and consultants, and many other allied health representatives.
- Supporting change implementation is an important aspect of this role and the PACU RN will be expected to participate in auditing and other quality initiatives as part of post-anaesthesia and/or anaesthesia
About the Team/Service Location
The Wellington Hospital PACU comprises approximately 45 staff made up of permanent and casual staff that are providing excellent care to post-operative patients. We deal with all major and minor types of surgery, except cardiac.
About you- PACU experience preferred
- Surgical experience will be considered
- At least 2 years RN experience
- Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Able to make decisions quickly
- NZ Resuscitation Council certification preferred
- Able to potentially work with Covid-positive patients in the theatre/recovery environment
- Must be able to do rostered and rotating 10-hour shifts
