Wood machinist CNC Operator

Rate: $25 - $35 hourly

• Interpreting and implementing blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing wooden parts
• Programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
• Translating instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
• Inspecting and measuring finished products to ensure they meet requirements
• Conducting regular CNC machine maintenance to ensure effective operation
• Adjusting machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
• Checking machinery on a daily basis to ensure functionality
• Reporting any machine malfunctions to maintenance personnel
• Maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and comply with safety regulations
• determining tooling and machine requirements and sequence of operations
• setting up woodworking machines and wood stock for correct cutting, planning, turning, shaping and sanding
• operating machines to cut, plane, turn, shape and sand work pieces
• removing old finishes by stripping with steel wool and glasspaper, and by applying solvents and paint strippers, and removing softened finishes by scraping
• applying varnish, shellac, lacquer, stains and paint to surfaces and polishing and waxing finished surfaces
• fitting and fastening frame pieces
• mounting backing materials and subjects for framing
• Assisting in other woodworking tasks as needed
