The Westport Deepsea Fishing School has a wide range of courses tailored to the Maritime Industry.
We are now seeking expressions of interest for our 2026 courses; The next available intake will be January 26, 2026. These courses are subject to age and NCEA qualification criteria.

We can offer some of these training programs on a regular and ongoing basis throughout the year.
Westport Deep Sea Fishing School is seeking applications for our pre-employment programs.Re-train with industry created programs that will kick start your career in sea going positions on NZ owned deep sea factory ships.
Successful students are facilitated into paid employment in the seafood industry, this however is dependent on usual employment practices and Company and vessel availability.Starting wages ranging from 60 – 70k per year depending on trip lengths.
