About the Role
We are looking for an experienced New Zealand Registered Advanced Clinician Physiotherapist to join our team working within our Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) at Auckland City Hospital. This is an exciting and unique opportunity as DCCM is one of the leading critical care units in New Zealand which caters for a wide range of adult tertiary specialist areas including liver and renal transplant, neurosurgery, trauma, and respiratory conditions.This role also provides regular opportunity to work across Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive care unit (CVICU), Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) ward and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) which are also covered by the Physiotherapy Critical Care Team.
This role is based at Auckland City Hospital and is a permanent, full-time position 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week). This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist wanting to advance their career in both clinical leadership and advanced clinical practice.
Provide an advanced level of physiotherapy care and expertise in both direct critical care delivery and support to other staff with critically ill patients across the wider hospital contextApply advanced physiotherapy clinical knowledge and skills relative to assessment and intervention, including early rehabilitation, advice and guidance based on recent evidence within the critical care environment
Lead in quality improvement, staff and service development
Evaluate service requirements and lead clinical research
Work collaboratively within the critical care teams on a day-to-day basis, providing clinical and operational support for a team of 5 physiotherapists
Motivate, guide, and develop physiotherapy staff with varying levels of experience
Co-ordinate caseload and ensure appropriate rehabilitation is provided across both Critical Care teams, working collaboratively with the Advanced Clinician Physiotherapist for Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care UnitContribute to the profession through the local application of contemporary, evidence-based practice and policy in the area of specialty both locally and regionally
Participation in our weekend and on-call physiotherapy service

Our team is made up of passionate and supportive Physiotherapists motivated to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the communities we serve. Our team consists of 91FTE, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

About you
As the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing CertificateTotal of 8+ post-graduate experience including equivalent of 4 years experience in critical care setting
Relevant post graduate degree
A flexible, pro-active and can-do approach with experience supporting staff and students
Excellent clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice
Evidence of establishing and developing working relationships within the wider MDT
Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to provide culturally safe care
