Mental Health, Addictions & Intellectual Disabilities ServiceTheMental Health Addictions and Intellectual Disability (MHAID) Service providesspecialist mental health and addictions services to Capital & Coast, HuttValley and Wairarapa districts servicing a population of close to half amillion people.
The region is diverse in many ways.The residents come frommany different ethnic and cultural groups and the area is home to both shortterm residents and those who have lived in the area for generations as well asurban and rural settings.
Six month training and non-training attachments arebased across the region in Porirua, Kāpiti, Wellington and Hutt Valley, in bothcommunity and hospital settings.OurTraining positions are accredited with the Royal Australian and New ZealandCollege of Psychiatrists for those working towards vocational registration inPsychiatry.
Beyond general Adult Psychiatry, we are able to offer additionalcertificate training in most sub-specialities such as Forensic Psychiatry,Child and Adolescent, Psychiatry of Old Age, Consultation Liaison, and Addictions.Specialist services such as Early Intervention, Maternal Mental Health,Inpatient Rehabilitation, Intellectual Disability, Regional AdolescentInpatient Service, Māori Mental Health, Health Pasifika and the CentralRegional Eating Disorders Service also offer training and non-trainingrotations.
