Ngā kawenga | About the roleThe position of the Release to Work (RTW) Broker is the principal liaison role for managing RTW placements and the monitoring of these placements at site level.
The RTW Broker will identify suitable work placements in the community and work with people in our management to maintain, develop or re-establish work skills and habits.
You will be pro-actively working with prison leadership and staff to optimise RTW placements.
This role will involve extensive networking with community and business groups and employers.This role will be based at the Regional Admin Building in Trentham and will involve work across both Rimutaka and Arohata Prison.

(pool car available for travel) He kōrero mōu | About you Your ability to lead and influence is paramount to your success as you liaise with employers and the prison to enforce conditions of release and provide ongoing monitoring of the work placement to ensure issues are resolved and plans are met.To be successful in this role you will have good negotiation skills, a good understanding of the geographical area and associated employment challenges.

The successful person will be able to:Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of labour market trends, with an ability to match job specifications to people in our management's requirementsBe resilient while remaining solutions focusedDevelop and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of employers, from government agencies to commercial networksHave excellent decision making, professional judgement and risk analysisDemonstrate strong planning, organisational and marketing skillsHave the ability to communicate at all levels both oral and writtenIt is important that your previous work history demonstrates your commercial acumen and your ability to influence and work successfully with a wide variety of stakeholders.A full New Zealand driver's licence is essential as you will be expected to travel in the area in a Department vehicle.Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

Utu ā-tau | SalaryThe salary range for this position is $68,456
  • $88,648. Once in the role salary is anniversary-based progression.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
