Health and Safety Advisor

We're partnering with a leading organisation in the energy sector to recruit a temporary Health and Safety Advisor to support their operations at the Nga Tamariki Power Station. This 6 to 9-month contract offers an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, experienced H&S professional to make a meaningful impact on safety culture and operational practices.

In this role, you'll be the go-to advisor on the ground-bridging day-to-day site activity with regional health and safety objectives. You'll be working closely with a team of approximately 20 site staff and supported by the regional H&S manager that thrives on collaboration, proactive thinking, and practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:* Provide daily H&S support to site teams and contractors* Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments* Attend toolbox talks and safety briefings* Monitor and investigate incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented* Promote continuous improvement and a safety-first culture* Report into and liaise with the wider regional Health and Safety team

What We're Looking For:* Minimum 2 years' experience in a Health and Safety role, preferably in construction, energy, manufacturing, or other high-risk environments* Strong working knowledge of NZ H&S legislation and best practices* Confidence to operate autonomously and make informed decisions on site* Excellent communication skills - able to engage, influence and build trust at all levels* Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety is advantageous (e.g. NZ Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice)
