We require an experienced Registered Nurse, who will be comfortable and competent in the Aged Care environment and deliver care with a passion for life and a refined sense of humour. You need to have Current New Zealand RN Registration and be able to feel confident as sole RN, managing a team of Caregivers.

There is a position is for a minimum of 32 hours per week (all shifts) and a part-time position is available as well

Job Description:

  • Treats all residents and their families with respect, dignity and care regardless of religious beliefs, disability or culture.
  • Employs safe techniques for manual handling, infection control, and hygiene cares.
  • Coordinates staff to deliver effective, professional and comprehensive care in a residential setting thus assisting the residents to maintain optimum levels of independence.
  • Develops and maintains a level of knowledge that will enable the registered nurse to performing his/her duties in a professional and caring manner.
  • Utilizes clinical and material resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Acts as an advocate for residents and represents their needs to staff, family, community, and professional organizations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective nursing care
  • Develops and uses nursing care plans in conjunction with the Clinical Manager to deliver a comprehensive and consistent pattern of care.
  • Communicates with all staff, and ensures that clinical notes are updated regularly, in a tidy and legible format. * Promotes safe practice among all staff
Safe Administration of Medicines Medications are administered safely, and in accordance to the medication policies.
  • Monitors and reports levels of medical supplies so that a high standard of nursing care is maintained
  • Liaises with the pharmacist to ensure that each resident has adequate supplies of any medication.
  • Ensures that all medication is stored safely.
Staff Training
  • Assists in the training of new care staff during their orientation.
  • Promotes and develops a happy, competent team spirit.
  • Maintains a current practising certificate, and participates in ongoing education.
Leadership
  • The Registered Nurse demonstrates leadership to all care and domestic staff at all times.
Acts as a representative of management at all times, but especially outside office hours, including but not limited to:
  • Dealing with conflict, complaints and challenges that may arise.
  • Ensuring staff cover for upcoming shift to the best of their ability:
Health and Safety
  • Ensures that all staff members report on and complete the necessary documentation for all accidents,
  • Takes reasonable care of his/her own safety and not cause any harm to others when carrying out any duties.
  • Plays a responsible role in the monitoring and management of indoor and outdoor environmental safety,
Confidentiality
  • Respects as confidential all detailed information relating to residents and their relatives, customers, suppliers and staff and parties with whom the Employer deals commercially.
Quality Improvement
  • Actively participates in the development and maintenance of a quality programme, and to adhere to all of the policies and procedures,
  • Follows documented procedures to initiate action to prevent or remedy any problems.
  • Actively participates in the clinical review process, and assists in the development of clinical policy.
  • Attends compulsory and ongoing education as required.
General
  • The Registered Nurse shall perform other such duties as may be reasonably required by the Employer or the Managers.
