We are looking for two motivated and detail-focused Cellar Hands to join our small, hands-on winery team at Grove Mill.
Located in Marlborough’s Waihopai Valley, Grove Mill is a medium sized winery, processing approximately 3,000 tonnes annually.
This is a full-time, permanent position, (minimum 40 hours per week), worked Monday to Friday. During vintage the role transitions to a 6 day, 12-hour shift roster. You’ll gain exposure across all cellar operations, from grape receival through to bottling preparation, while working alongside an experienced winemaking team.
You will work closely with the Cellar Foreman, who oversees daily operations.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities- Follow and promote safe work practices, contributing to continuous improvement in cellar operations
- Execute all cellar operations to maintain wine quality and product integrity
- Perform tasks across receival, processing, transfers, cleaning and wine preparation for bottling
- Operate winery equipment safely and efficiently
- Accurately complete production records and documentation
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all cellar areas
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Minimum of 6 months of consecutive cellar / winery experience across a full production cycle, including vintage and bottling preparation
- Proven ability to independently operate winery equipment such as crossflow filtration (Xflow),presses, RDV and flotation
- Experience with wine receival and dispatch, including tanker operations
- Strong attention to detail
- A proactive, practical approach to problem solving
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- A high level of physical fitness suited to manual, repetitive tasks
- Flexibility to work extended, irregular hours and shift work, including nights and weekends during vintage.
- Competitive pay rate ($25.00 - $28.00) depending on skills and experience
- Annual wine allowance accessing wines from New Zealand’s most acclaimed wine regions.
