Contribute to transforming the future of health in this Compliance Officer role Permanent, full-time role Located in: Lower HuttHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs a Compliance Officer, you will contribute towards compliance and enforcement activities relating to the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act (SERPA) 1990, and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
Activities will be carried out in a way that contributes to Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) and the Smokefree Aotearoa Smokefree 2025 Action Plan. We have 2 full time, permanent opportunities located in Lower Hutt.Working with various key stakeholders, you will monitor targeted, and evidence based regional compliance activity in the Greater Wellington Region as part of the Te Ikaroa Central Region Team.You will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining nationally consistent and effective systems/processes for regional delivery and reporting of compliance activity including development of national standards of practice.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

You are someone with strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information.Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a regulator/compliance capacity (e.g. Law, Health, Public Administration, Compliance).Experience in regulatory approaches and/or Smokefree and Regulated Products and Sale and Supply of Alcohol legislation.Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.Experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other Agencies and Public Health teams.Clean NZ Drivers LicenceWillingness to travel across the regionWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
