Job Description:We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join our kitchen team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals in accordance with recipes and food safety standards, maintaining a clean work environment, and ensuring customer satisfaction through attention to detail and consistent food presentation.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh and meet quality standards
- Follow standardized recipes, including accurate measuring, weighing, and mixing of ingredients
- Prepare and cook a variety of foods by grilling, steaming, boiling, or frying meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other dishes
- Season food appropriately during cooking to enhance flavour
- Portion, present, garnish, and arrange final dishes attractively
- Occasionally serve food to guests when required
- Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements and accommodate guest requests
- Set up workstations with all necessary ingredients and kitchen equipment
- Monitor inventory levels at assigned stations and inform management when supplies are low
- Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe work environment by cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities to preserve quality
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Execute daily opening and closing kitchen procedures
- May assist in planning menus and estimating food requirements
- May train and support other kitchen staff or apprentices
The minimum qualification and work experience requirements:
- Relevant NZQF Level 3 qualification OR
- At least one years of relevant work experience
Other skills required:
- Proficiency in the kitchen
- Good communication with other staff and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of hygiene and safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently
- Flexible to work with a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
