  • Permanent, Part-Time 56 hours per fortnight (0.7 FTE)

About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant (HCA), youll play an essential role in supporting the nursing team and wider multidisciplinary staff to ensure highquality, safe and compassionate care for patients and their whanau. This role involves a blend of clinical, technical and clerical tasks, always under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse.

Your day will include supporting patient personal cares, maintaining patient comfort and dignity, completing delegated clinical tasks once trained, restocking supplies, cleaning and preparing equipment, and assisting with patient flow. Youll also help with basic administration tasks such as scanning, filing and supporting patient registration processes.

You are a key part of ensuring the unit runs smoothly - helping maintain a clean, safe environment, supporting patient needs promptly, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the clinical area.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Youll be working within a supportive nursing team alongside Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, allied health professionals, administrative staff and clinical leaders. The service is busy, fastpaced and highly collaborative - every team member plays an important role in ensuring patients receive timely, respectful and culturally safe care.

This is a setting where teamwork, communication and whanaungatanga are essential. Youll also engage with services across the organisation, as well as external providers and community supports as needed.

About you

You will be someone who brings empathy, reliability and a positive attitude to work each day. You will have:

Qualifications
  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) Health Assistance
  • OR be actively completing it
  • OR be willing to commence study within six months of starting.
Skills Experience
  • Ability to follow direction and work well within a team
  • Sensitivity to the needs of patients, staff and the public
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Basic computer and telephone skills
  • Customer service skills and a calm, respectful approach
  • Ability to adapt within a changing environment
  • Understanding of cultural needs, including tikanga and the needs of diverse communities
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to kneel, squat, reach and move comfortably to support patient care
  • Ability to climb stairs and perform light physical tasks
  • Fit, active and able to meet the physical demands of the role
