Fitter/Turner Machinist

Total Engineering are seeking an experienced full time Fitter Turner with leadership skills.
We specialize in fabrication, machining and installation work in the food industry, and general engineering.We are based in East Tamaki, with a well equipped and modern workshop - with all the gear and know how you'll need to maximize your potential, and create work you'll be proud to put your name on.
We offer a wide variety of work in the workshop and on site, with most jobs being one-offs or low quantities, keeping work interesting.
What we are looking for:- Applicants that have worked with stainless and mild steel, plastics, and aluminium.
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings and take initiative
- A comprehensive understanding of manual machining processes, with at least 5 years experience using manual lathes and milling machines
- As you will be front of shop, you will at times need to greet customers, have good communication skills and be competent at assessing work required and giving creative solutions to problems.
You will be a competent Fitter/Turner with the ability to spot problems and resolve them in the most efficient manner possible.
You will ensure that health and safety procedures are never compromised, and the company's processes are adhered to.
You will have a willingness to tackle new challenges and expand your skills along the way.
Guaranteed minimum 40hrs per week.
