Health and Fitness Coach

Role Specifications
- Minimum 30 hours per week
- Days required: Monday to Friday - 5am to 8pm. May be required work on weekends
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting individual and group fitness assessments and designing customised exercise programs
- Providing one-on-one personal training sessions and small group fitness classes
- Educating clients on proper exercise techniques, nutrition basics, and healthy lifestyle practices
- Monitoring client progress and adjusting programs as needed to achieve optimal results
- Maintaining accurate client records and progress documentation
- Ensuring safe use of gym equipment and adherence to health and safety protocols
- Providing motivational support and accountability to help clients reach their fitness goals
- Staying current with industry trends, techniques, and continuing education requirements
- Assisting with gym operations, including equipment maintenance and facility cleanliness
- Building strong client relationships and contributing to client retention efforts
- Travel required: Minimal travel within the Wellington Region may be required for off-site training sessions or fitness events.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in personal training, fitness coaching, or health and wellness coaching OR
- Relevant qualification Level 7 (such as a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or equivalent)
- Current fitness industry certification (e.g., REPS, ACSM, NASM, or equivalent recognised certification)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition principles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
- Open work permit in New Zealand with no restriction
- Personal training certification and experience
- Additional specialised certifications (e.g., functional movement, corrective exercise, nutrition coaching)
- Experience with fitness software and client management systems
- Group fitness instruction qualifications
- Previous experience in a gym or fitness facility environment
