Join a team where your voice matters, and your skills make a real difference.About the RoleWe are seeking passionate and experienced Core Social Workers to join our dynamic multidisciplinary Acute Allied Health team based at Middlemore Hospital.
This vital role is centred around providing high-quality, culturally responsive care for individuals and families experiencing family violence and requiring child protection interventions.Working across hospital and community settings, youll support tamariki and whaanau using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.
Youll collaborate closely with health professionals, statutory agencies, and community partners to ensure integrated and effective care that improves outcomes and supports healing.This role is based in a team that covers Surgical, Womens Health, Paediatrics and Emergency Care and an afterhours service, and workloads will be allocated according to experience.
However, there may be opportunity to work across areas from time to time as applicable.The permanent position is primarily based in Emergency Care. As such, flexibility in working hours is essential, including participation in the after-hours service.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a clinical caseload focused on family violence and child protectionWork collaboratively with patients, whaanau, and the interdisciplinary team to assess needs and deliver targeted interventionsUndertake risk assessments and safety planning in line with legal and professional standardsContribute to multi-agency responses, including Oranga Tamariki and the PoliceProvide clinical leadership and education within your area of expertiseSupport discharge planning and referrals to external servicesMaintain accurate documentation and participate in ongoing data and quality improvement initiativesAbout YouNZ Registered Social Worker with a current Annual Practising Certificate (SWRB)Experience in child protection, family violence, or related social work areasAbility to work effectively in high-stress, emotionally complex situationsCommitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity in health outcomesSkilled in engaging with diverse communities and delivering culturally safe practiceExcellent communication and collaborative skillsFull drivers licenceWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
