No prior experience is required, but ideally you will have had experience handling and caring for newborn pēpi. Full training is provided as part of the introduction to the role, and you will receive support to complete the NZQA New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) in Newborn Hearing Screening over the first year.Key responsibilities of the role:Undertaking hearing screening of pēpiCommunicate with mothers and their whānauCommunicate with other health and maternity staffInput data on to a computer systemContact whānau to organise hearing screening appointmentsThis permanent position is based at Waikato Hospital and includes working weekends on a roster basis (one or two weekend days per month).Click here to view the position description.About the Team/ServiceThe Universal Newborn Hearing Screening programme provides hearing screening of pēpi.

The team provides screening services seven days per week for newborn infants in the Waikato hospital maternity service, Hamilton birth centres, and community clinics around the Waikato region.The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening programme is a national program aimed at early detection of hearing loss.
