Automotive Technician

We are a well-established, family-run automotive workshop in Hamilton, led by a hands-on owner-operator with over 40 years of industry experience. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Technician to join our close-knit team.

The Role

This is a full-time position in a modern, well-equipped workshop, ideal for a technician who enjoys working independently, takes pride in quality workmanship and values strong customer relationships.

You will receive ongoing support, guidance and oversight directly from the highly experienced owner-operator, with a strong focus on skill development, best-practice workmanship and long-term career progression.

• Undertaking Warrant of Fitness inspections
• General servicing, repairs and diagnostics across a range of vehicles
• Working independently to manage jobs efficiently and to a high standard
• Directly interfacing with customers in a friendly, professional, customer-first manner
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop

• WOF Inspector Certification required
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant automotive experience in New Zealand
• Fully qualified technician or almost qualified apprentice
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Able to work independently while contributing positively to a small team
• Reliable, motivated and keen to build a long-term career
• Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand

• Previous supervisory or workshop management experience
• Interest in developing leadership skills and progressing into a workshop management or senior role
