Papatu Station, Manutuke (Gisborne)
Papatu Station is a well-established breeding and finishing station located just 5 minutes from Manutuke and 15 minutes from Gisborne. The property runs over 400 Angus breeding cowsand 5,000 ewes plus replacements, across predominantly hill country.The station is mainly hill country and therefore some of the stock work is carried out on horseback. The working environment is one in which the successful applicant will be encouraged to perform to their potential. Progressive farming and good animal welfare practices are employed.
We are seeking an Experienced Shepherd to join our progressive and supportive team.
The role comes with a 3 bedroom family home with free internet provided.
About the Role
As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with the Farm Manager and contribute to the smooth running of all station operations. Your responsibilities will include:- Livestock Handling: Calm, confident management of stock across various tasks and conditions.
- Stock Work & Farm Maintenance: Day-to-day duties such as mustering, fencing repairs, and general upkeep of the property.
- Independent Work: Taking initiative and working solo when required, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Working Dog Team: Managing a competent team of broken in working dogs to assist with stock movement and control.

- Proven stockmanship
- Physically able to work on hilly terrain
- Understanding of feed and pasture management
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Computer literate
- Awareness of health & safety and environmental compliance
