Floral Instructor (Chinese Floral Arts)

Job description

This role focuses on designing, teaching, and promoting traditional and contemporary floral arrangements.

• Design and create floral arrangements and develop entry-level and intermediate course syllabi for Chinese Floral Arts.
• Demonstrate practical flower arrangement skills and knowledge of colour theory, botany, and cultural connections between flowers and traditional Chinese arts.
• Prepare and deliver classes, assess students’ technical ability, and provide constructive feedback.
• Source and purchase flowers, tools, and traditional Chinese floral utensils from wholesalers.
• Manage content to promote classes and tutorials; implement online and offline marketing strategies.
• Develop diverse teaching methods and materials to support students with varying backgrounds.
• Create an online version of the course for distance learning.
• Provide regular reports on student progress, pass rates, feedback, and course demand.

The successful candidate must have:

• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience or a New Zealand Level 4 qualification in floristry or equivalent certification.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Excellent communication skills and self-motivation.
• High standard of workmanship with strong attention to detail.

Remuneration:

• Full time 30 hours (minimum)
• Remuneration $30-$40 per hour depending on qualifications and experience
• Generally working regular business hours and will also require some evenings and weekends
