Type: Full-time/Permanent
Pay Range: $30 - $35 per hour
Days: Monday to Friday (optional Saturdays 6am-11am)
Hours: Guaranteed 30 hours per week, 6:00am - 5:00pm
The Company:Our client is a respected New Zealand manufacturer specialising in the design and production of agricultural equipment. Renowned for quality craftsmanship and a strong safety culture, they operate with a collaborative, close-knit team and are seeking a skilled Welder to support their growing production demands in Timaru.
Key Responsibilities:As a Welder, your main responsibilities will include welding, fabricating, and preparing farming equipment and attachments. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Fabricate, position, and align components using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to assemble structural and mechanical parts
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to complete precise fabrication work
- Perform quality checks and inspect materials and welds for defects or non-conformance
- Use pre-fabrication machinery such as manual lathes, band saws, and drills
- Maintain health and safety standards in compliance with workshop procedures
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum of 5 years' proven experience in welding and metal fabrication
- Experience using MIG welding techniques and reading technical drawings
- Ability to operate fabrication tools including lathes and drills
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work in a workshop setting
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Forklift licence preferred NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Engineering Fabrication would be an advantageous
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Must have a clean police report with no charges pending
