Flatdeck Operator & Crane Truck Operator (2 Roles) - Christchurch
Christchurch
With a change of ownership underway and a clear plan to keep building on the strong reputation we’re known for, we’re gearing up for the next chapter and we’re doing it with more gear and more work than ever.
Crane and Carry is a Christchurch based operation known for running sharp gear, lifting heavy things and moving over-dimensional and specialist freight across the South Island with a can do attitude. At Crane and Carry, we take pride in doing things right and enjoy working alongside each other.
Whether it’s long, heavy, wide, or just plain difficult, that’s the stuff we pride ourselves on as we specialise in the kind of freight most others steer clear of. Steel, concrete, roofing iron, construction materials, the kind of gear that needs proper handling and doesn’t suit just any truck.
We’re looking for 2 roles:
- a skilled Class 5 driver with a proven track record to help move all sorts of product locally and across the South Island.
- Full Class 5 license
- Flat deck or oversize experience is essential
- A tidy approach — to gear, paperwork, your truck and trailer and how you operate (we run a TMS that keeps your jobs clear and simple)
- Good comms and the ability to manage your day on the road
- A practical mindset and pride in doing the job right
- We’re also looking for a confident, experienced Hiab operator to join the team and operate one of our modern crane trucks. We do a mix of residential, commercial, and specialist lifts — everything from long steel and concrete panels to site gear and machinery.
- Full Class 5 license
- Proven Hiab experience with NZQA qualification (would consider helping for the right candidate)
- A tidy, careful approach to gear and lifting
- Good communication skills and a professional manner on site
- A practical, can-do attitude with a safety first mindset
- A solid, well-run operation with a strong name in the industry
- A mix of modern gear and trusted workhorses —but all well looked after with the vision to replace as soon as possible
- A variety of work
- Christchurch base with South Island travel as we continue to grow with our customer demands
- A team that backs each other and knows how to get the job done
- Generally speaking, hours of work are Monday to Friday work, with the occasional weekend when required
- We take Health & Safety seriously — no shortcuts
- Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid working visa
If you’re looking for more than just a job and want to be part of something that’s building — this could be your next move.
